Kids Classes
The Kids physical training is equally divided between the study of Karate, Jujutsu /BJJ and Kung Fu. All forms are separate Martial Arts, each with its own curriculum and ranking system. Our programs are separated into three levels based on age and experience with specific class times for each.

KIDS JUJUTSU
Jujutsu, one of the oldest styles of Martial Arts, comes from Japan and means “compliant art”. Jujutsu is a generic term that encompasses many different styles of the Japanese grappling arts and includes strikes, Judo and ground work. This art exposes children to practical scenarios and hands-on training where the focus lies on mental toughness and usability.
KIDS BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu)
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a modern style of Jujutsu mostly known for its competition element. Excellent for its focus on the ground aspect of self-defense for kids, it emphasizes leverage and technique over strength and power. This focus makes it possible for all children to excel, regardless of their size or athletic ability.
KIDS KARATE
Our Karate comes from Okinawa and literally translated means “empty hand”. Karate’s first priority lies within the perfection of character. Karate training emphasizes etiquette, respect, politeness and discipline while teaching the fundamentals of coordination, balance, movement and striking.
KIDS KUNG FU
Kung Fu, meaning “well done” is a generic term used for hundreds of fighting styles that come from China. Kung Fu classes for the kids are designed to enrich their training experience while helping the children to focus on specific developmental aspects of the body and mind.
KIDS INSTRUCTION
The most unique and valuable feature of the Kids program at Shuhari is the fact that the Chief Instructor and the Master Instructor combine to teach the entire program between them. Together with over 47 years experience in the arts, their personable approach and their way with kids is one of the main reasons Shuhari’s reputation is as high as it is. They are invaluable mentors for children and an extremely valuable find for parents. We will warn you that one trial class with either instructor and kids are hooked.
